Sally D’s Mobile Photography Challenge: Challenger’s Choice

It’s the fourth Monday of the month and over at Sally D’s that means the challenger can pick a subject from a list of twelve.

Today when I left the gym the early morning sunlight cast golden rays low across the horizon. I noticed this silverware on a table at the brewhouse next door. Apparently it was left out overnight, but it looked too good to pass up an opportunity to use my iPhone camera. I used the Florence Lens/Love 81 Film/Apollo Flash combination in the Hipstamatic app to take this photo.

Allan, I love the depth of color in the wood and the contrast between it and the silverware and napkin. You captured a warm, homey feeling here.

Often the everyday becomes much more by simply noticing. I like the way the fork is turned downward and the knife in the opposite direction that it is usually (when a table set). But it’s the combination of colors and lines that drew me into the image. Happy Photo Challenge.

Color and lines make such a satisfying combination of simplicity

I always wonder how you chose which filter, am I calling that correctly, to use when snapping a pic.

In this instance I used one that is the “Combo of the Week” on a Facebook page that I participate on. Otherwise, it depends on how I feel when I see a subject—use a favorite combo, or experiment with a new one?
