Is it possible to be nostalgic for the Future? 40 years ago a resident of our town had an idea for a movie that transported us to a Galaxy far, far away. In the intervening years that single idea spawned a revolution in movie-making and in the way in which we watch them.

Two days before his wedding, George Lucas unveiled Imagination Park in downtown San Anselmo. The park features bronze statues of Yoda and Indiana Jones, reminders that both movies were locally created, and in the case of Star Wars, filmed here.

Consider this my “Thank you” to Mr. Lucas for his philanthropic efforts and his vision to employ people with the imagination, talent and ability to make us yearn to return to places that we have never been.

What a very cool take on the prompt. I love George Lucus for his vision and his contributions.

Thanks, Jo. I liked your entry, too; the idea of having a Kiwi orchard is very appealing.

You would love the book “Wasn’t the future Wonderful” – illustrated visions of the future done in the 30s and 40s….

Cool. Even though nostalgia is not what it used be, I want to see San Anselmo. Thanks.

It would be great to see you when you are feeling better, Al. I am sitting on a bench in a grove of Redwood trees just off downtown and there is plenty of room for visitors. We will see you for sure in 2015.
