Ambience

Ambience has the power to uplift your mood. What have you photographed with exceptional ambience? —WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge

This year our backyard rose garden attracted my attention as much as it did that of our neighbor’s bees.

The early morning sunlight directs a golden shaft of light broadside across the tops of the rose bushes. As the day goes on, the beam of light becomes an airy shower of illumination as it filters through the Monterey pine tree that towers high and wide above. During the golden hour each evening a crown of amber light appears for a few minutes on top of the flowers on the tallest plants.

My photographic processes increase during these colorful silences. Each day and night provide opportunities to capture new images of old subjects under light from a slightly different direction. Light that is, perhaps, filtered through clouds or fog, maybe even through tree leaves far away or close by.

Silence and light—Silent Light—in Nature’s cathedral. The ambience is overwhelming.

That was just a few days ago after all of the wind and rain out here.

Amazing ! I’m glad your roses survived the storms so beautifully. I trust that California will continue with rain and snow and put the drought down to history .

We’ll have to see about the history part. All in all this has been a welcome respite to the previous 5 years.
