Outdoor Landscapes

It is Tuesday and Cee has challenged us with her Fun Foto Challenge topic of Outdoor Landscapes. In keeping with the rainy, overcast weather we are having I am entering this Black & White photo of the driveway leading down to the former Marconi Wireless/RCA radio building in Pt. Reyes, CA.

I love this shot. Everything about it. The vanishing point, the symmetry, the grandeur. Lovely.

Thanks, Tom. There is a lot to see out there on the edge of the continent.

Is it at the entrance from Bolinas?

It is farther North. Take Sir Francis Drake Blvd toward Pt. Reyes Beach South.

If you make the trip be sure to checkout the Life-saving/G Ranch Cemetery about a mile on the right just before the Radio Station.

I’ve been close and didn’t know it. We took the Drakes Estero trail about a month ago.

It sure is nice out there. I’m so glad that it was spared from development.

This is gorgeous … and the light and the dark and the black and the white says more, I think, than it would have in color. I always love when a photograph makes me look … and then come back and look again. This one did. Just beautifully done!

Thank you for your kind words. I am glad that you enjoyed the photo so much. You are correct about color vs B&W—It was an overcast day and I didn’t even bother with a color shot of this scene.

As you travel down the path it starts to look like pen and ink. This is art!

I love lanes/roads that are bounded by trees like this! It looks great in b&w, too.

Thanks, Janet. The building at the end of this lane is a time capsule of radio technology and the human spirit.
