Hipsta365 2/17/17

Over the last 2 years I have become a regular contributor to a Facebook user-group called Hipsta365. It is a curated site where practitioners of the Hipstamatic app can display their work and participate in a weekly “Combo” challenge.

This week the challenge is to pair up the Sugar Film with any lens and see what happens.

In the photo below I used the John S lens and Apollo flash along with the Sugar film to capture a pair of beautiful Calla Lilies at the Falkirk Cultural Center in San Rafael, CA.

I’ve been catching up in reverse order since I’ve been back on (Thank God for email notifications) and this one really caught my eye..
I always read your posts, even absorbing but not understanding the tech lingo about film, cameras and methods.. My favorite term, that I don’t know a thing about is the Hipstamatic, I think because you shorten it to the cooler slang “Hipsta” 😄
Other than realizing you have a reader in the “darkroom” , I hope you realize, that’s a compliment about your engaging writing style 😊

Thank you, Pan. Hipstamatic is a photo-editing app that also happens to be Apple’s first “App of the Year”. You can go here to find out more about it: http://hipstamatic.com/camera

It occurred to me that most people don’t understand/care about the technical aspects of the photos and so I have been leaving that part out lately. I do include it in the Hipsta365 posts since that is the point of the exercise.

Thanks for hanging in there with me and I am glad that you enjoy the prose and the photos.

Might as well wait, Jane. This twin lens camera is supposed to be even better in the next generation.

It’s that time of year. We have these puppies all along our south facing wall. What great color and composition.
