    I think Mr Sowell is uneasy about where the human race is going. My grandfather called it the good old days syndrome , we always did things better in the past.
    All this assumes we control our own destiny which I rather doubt .

    Sowell is a master of empty rhetoric. What does this quote from 1993 mean? That prior to 1963 western social history was a record of things that worked and we spent three decades trying things that didn’t because they sounded good? Please… give me a break.
