June 9, 1986 — The Rogers Commission released its report on the “Challenger” disaster, criticizing NASA and rocket-builder Morton Thiokol for management problems leading to the explosion that claimed the lives of seven astronauts. The Space Shuttle Challenger blew up as a result of a failure in a solid rocket booster joint.

    This was one of the moments that remain in memory, what one was doing, where one was, how one learned…like the assignation of Kennedy
