June Squares 6/6/18

Becky has a new Square format photo challenge for the month of June and the theme is ROOFS (or rooves if you prefer!).

The roof can be:

  • Any type, any condition, any size, and in any location.
  • It could be a shot across rooftops, of one roof like today or even a macro
  • You might prefer to spend some time under the eaves and in the attic, or enjoy the view from above.

This greenhouse roof was renovated last year at the Falkirk Mansion in San Rafael, CA.

My grandfather was a builder, and this picture reminds me of when I was a child and he was building the house he eventually died in a few decades later. Thanks for the nice reminder 😉

Open dormers on an unfinished greenhouse roof raises questions about levels of transparency… Great shot!

It might be the antidote to people in glasshouses who throw stones… 🤡

I like the vignetting as well as the overexposure effects. I find the tonal contrast between the rafters, the ladders and the vertical supports gives each element a strong presence.

There was a touch of overcast in the skies when I took this photo, so I added a bit of contrast during the editing. Thanks for noticing and commenting. I do like the final results.

This is a great roof! And the insides too.

Thanks, Angeline. I need to stop by there sometime soon and see how everything turned out.
