Light Pollution: The alteration of natural light levels in the outdoor environment owing to artificial light sources. —Wikipedia
Wikipedia goes on to say that, “By June of 2016, it was estimated that one third of the world’s population could no longer see the Milky Way, including 80% of Americans and 60% of Europeans…”
This video takes an elegant look at the problem.
Love the video and how it shows what many stars we should be able to actually see! Growing up in the country side I used to be able to see the milky way as a kid at home; tried again when I visited my parents last week … but I couldn’t see it, the town became just too bright for it, which is really sad. Hope to find a place where I can see it again.

Seems like this comes up once every Perseid meteor shower. But if you ever saw the night sky away from the lights, man, heavenly. No pun intended.

We used to experience that in Telluride and on the Grand Mesa when we lived in western Colorado.

I bet that was awesome. My best viewing of the Milky Way was on Haleakala in Hawaii.
