This is the fifth year of D.L. Hammonds’ project, WRiTE CLUB, a writing competition loosely based on the movie, Fight Club.
The number one rule of Fight Club is, “Nobody talks about Fight Club”. The number one rule of WRiTE CLUB is, “You must talk about Write Club”.
Between now and April 30th, they will be collecting anonymous 500 word writing samples of any genre. A dozen judges will narrow down the entries to a list of 40. Entries on that list will go head-to-head over ten weeks in a competition where you, the reader, will pick the winner of each bout.
This year the winner of WRiTE CLUB will be announced at the DFW Writers Conference on July 25th. The winner will get a three-chapter critique of their work by several judges and free admission to the DFW conference in 2016. The two finalists will both receive a $75.00 Amazon gift card.
This is a great chance to challenge yourself and to get exposure for your writing. I am going to enter the contest this year just to see how I measure up with the writing community at large.
What about you? Have you ever entered a writing competition similar to this one? What was your experience like?
