Hurrah!! Something good to remember and never forget, although then we had to do it all again all too soon.

Too soon, for sure, and much worse the second time around.

Yes, although WWI was quite terrible, especially the trench warfare and the gas.

When I was a kid we had a family friend, Del, who was in the Submarine Corps in WWI. Back then the subs were diesel tubs with poor ventilation. He developed Narcolepsy and for the rest of his life was subject to nodding off in the middle of a sentence, smoking a cigarette, or driving a car.

Some gave all and all gave some.

My f-i-l landed on Omaha Beach on D-Day, one of those who managed to survive, and then was also in the Pacific front. He got TB and was told he was going to die. However, he lived into his 60’s, but rarely talked about the war.

He’s one hell of a survivor! Thanks to him and those like him.
