Photo of the Day 8/23/18

Driving vs. walking. It’s amazing how much life we miss while traveling at speed. Last week I took a short walk and discovered that our favorite BBQ spot—the Best Lil’ Porkhouse—has closed their doors.

Further research online turned up information that it’s owner, Ken Flach, died last March.

Ken was a nice guy and quite a tennis player, with 6 ATP Grand Slam Doubles titles to his credit.

RIP Ken

Love good barbecue, and hate to see a great place like that close, especially when it’s closure is due to the passing of a great person. My sincerest condolences to his family and friends.

Sad when a place like this closes and you lose both place and person/people. There are too few personal places these days; everything seems to be a chain. I also agree about missing things when you go at speed. That’s one of the reasons I like to walk in the park rather than bike or even jog. Joggers are mostly about their pain or effort, I think. 🙂

Sad to lose another guy and a place like this. A number of places I used to like are going away.

Yes, it is sad. Ken was always so kind and upbeat when we saw him there. It’s a loss for the community.

Nice tribute. Always sad to see fine places close their doors. Brennan’s Irish pub in Berkeley is closing. Like the Thank you in rt. Corner of photo.

Thanks, Carol. You’re right, the “thank you” in the corner works with the photo.
