Photo of the Day 5/9/18

Editing photos can be a struggle starting with what app(s) to use? How many variations/combinations should be considered? What should we do if more than one result is promising?

The header for this post shows 12 of 74 different versions of one photo that was edited with the Photo Lab Pro app. From this batch I selected 4 photos and layered them on top of each other in the Luminar app. By creating masks, I could select colors and shapes from different areas of each masked layer and sandwich the results onto one final photograph.

This is my most ambitious edit to-date and it has inspired me to try it again when I have an appropriate subject.

Very cool. Also like the facial expression; introspective and powerful.

Thanks. I’m still not used to being in front of the camera and haven’t mastered the use of my thumb for selfies. I picked up a BlueTooth remote the other day and will practice with that. Hopefully it will be easier to use for photos like this and others.

Wow outcome. A bit mind boggling to me, but I’m going to start working on this a bit. You inspire.

Great result, Allan. When I start playing around with editing, I often have trouble deciding which edit/edit combination I like best. I don’t really do much, but when I do, it’s usually enjoyable, although I basically use Picasa3 (not many choices) or Pixlr. As I’ve said before, you’re THE editing guy.

Thank you, Janet. When it comes to editing, sometimes I feel like a blind man at midnight walking through a minefield on snowshoes. Knowing when to stop—or how far to go—is the elusive bit of magic that keeps me coming back to photo editing and trying something new, or practicing more what already works.

You are doing a good job with Picasa3 and Pixlr and I look forward to viewing your work. You are the Queen of colorful Borders and frames!
