I was too young at the time to understand the import of his moment, especially that image of the young woman crying out over the slain body of one of the students who’d been protesting. But I can appreciate the grief she felt then with the grief of those Parkland students.

I had two cousins that were trying to get home from Kent State on the day of the shooting. They were uninjured, but it was a horrendous event for the nation.

Wow. 1970. Doesn’t seem that long ago (a sure sign of old age). And now it’s protests at a whole other level.
